Video poker strategy part 2
The previous part of our video poker strategy provided you with an explanations on situations when you should throw away paying hands and situations for any draws that will bring you advantage. Let’s have a look at other situations:
* The next best thing to keep is a four to flush followed by an open-ended straight draw. If you’ve ever played Texas Hold’em, you should know that open-ended stright draw is a combination of cards that can make a straight on either end. There are 8 cards that can complete and open-ended straight and 9 cards that can complete a flush in deck and that explains why they’re so close.
* Any pair, even a pair lower than Jacks have a slight chance to turn into two pair, three of a kind, four of a kind or full house. These combinations is what make the pair a pretty good draw in online video poker. Actually, the pair draw is better than the open-ended straight draw in many situations. It is wise to keep the straight draw if at least one of the cards in the straight is Jack or better.
* If the best you’ve get is a pair, then you should keep any two cards to a royal flush except for a ten. Suited combinations of Aces, Kings, Queens or Jacks will do. These card are much more valuable because the can form a pair that will make your hand a paying hand.

Playing online video poker is very much like playing five card draw, except for one big difference: In video poker, whether Three of a Kind, Jacks or Kings, there’s a cutoff being paid and unpaid hands. This is true when you play video poker at both online casino and land based casino.

There are several situations in video poker when you should throw away a paying hand and it’s when you have four cards to a royal flush, or four cards to a stright flush. However, you shouldn’t throw away a pair of Jacks and try to get a royal flush with three cards and you shouldn’t throw away one of your paired Kings to try to get a fifth diamond. A pair in your hand can be easuky improved to three of a kind or two pairs easily. There’s also a probability to get full house or even four of a kind.
In case your starting hand is not a paying hand you must look for the best chance of getting the highest paying cards you can. As mentioned above, you should keep four cards to a straight or royal flush. Sometimes, you can even keep 3 cards to a straight flush or royal flush if you don’t have a paying hand.
The next part of our video poker strategy will tell you how to work with each video poker jand. Any draw that will provide you with and advantage towards going for a full house or four of a kind would be a paying hand already, so let’s proceed to flush.
